Immerse
yourself in the beauty of the Helen S. Layer Rhododendron Garden,
where more than 3,000 rhododendrons and azaleas bloom in a 20-acre
woodland setting. Activities include a family nature hunt, kid
crafts, expert advice on growing and caring for rhododendrons and a
presentation by woodcarver Dan Sammon,
who created the garden’s Guardians of the Garden sculpture from the
stump of the 150-year-old Red Oak. Tours of the garden will also be
available, led by a Holden expert, every half hour starting at 1pm.
Other
activities will include:
● Family nature hunt: - enjoy and explore via
prompts by our Nature Scavenger Hunt; pick up our list of clues near
the gate, roam the garden at your own pace and discover yourself in
nature!
● Kids’ craft -make a tissue take-home
rhododendron and leave the live blossoms for others to enjoy!
● Growing and Caring for Rhododendrons - an
informational display with access to expert advice to help you grow
your own beautiful plants.
