2017 Summer Student Volunteer

Enjoy time in nature, build your resume, meet other eco-minded teens, and go behind the scenes as a Holden Forests & Gardens Summer Student!
Summer Students are teens, 13-18, that join the volunteer staff of the Cleveland Botanical Garden or the Holden Arboretum regularly from mid-June through end of July. Students get engaged in an area that interests them – whether it is working with plants, conservation in the natural areas or playing with children. Selected applicants are matched with a position that fits their personal or career interests and desired schedule.

Summer Student Requirements

  • Be between 13-18 years old
  • Demonstrate a personal interest in the environment, nature and Holden’s mission
  • Able to commit to volunteering a minimum of one half-day a week from June 12—July 28, 2017,
  • Complete and application, with a brief essay describing interest and desired experience
  • Have reliable transportation to/from volunteer placement at either Holden Arboretum or Cleveland Botanical Garden
  • Agree to abide by Holden Forests & Gardens volunteer expectations, including punctuality, communication, working as a team and having a positive attitude.
  • Attend a Summer Student Orientation on Monday, June 12 from 9-11am at Holden Arboretum
