Research Interests

As a soil microbial ecologist, my research combines the fields of soil science, microbiology and ecology to address and understand ecosystem level processes. My research interests fall within three overarching themes that investigate 1) plant-microbe and microbe-microbe interactions; 2) linkages between above and below ground communities and processes; and 3) the response of soil communities to environmental change. Through field and laboratory based experiments, my research focuses on interactions among soil dwelling fungi and bacteria, the ecology of mycorrhizal fungi, nutrient cycling and biogeochemical processes.
