School and Youth Programs

Hands-on, outdoor experiences combined with classroom lessons help create a deeper understanding of the natural world. Holden's education programs for students are designed to compliment the state's science curriculum requirements.

Free Plant Science Mondays

September 2011 through June 2012

On Mondays, starting Sept. 1 and running through June 15 schools can come to Holden and participate in a program free of charge. This offer only extends to the following programs:

Discover Plants from Top to Bottom (K-Grade 1)
Interdependence: Links Between Plants and Animals (Grades 2-3)
Life Cycles of Plants (Grade 4)
Forest Ecosystems: Food Chains in Action (Grade 5)
Forest Biodiversity: Alien Threats (Grades 6-8)

50 Percent Off Outreach Programs

November 2011 through March 2012

Starting Nov. 1 and running through March 30 schools can have a Holden outreach program come to their schools for $50 per session. This price applies to the outreach programs listed below.

Plant Science Investigators (Grade 2)
Changing Forests (Grade 4)

Schools must pre-register by calling the Education Department at 440.602.3833. There is a limit to the number of tours per day and they will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don't miss this opportunity to expose your students to the fabulous world of plants.
