Arbor Day

Arbor Day is the annual observance that celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care.  The tree has appeared throughout history and literature as the symbol of life.  The simple act of planting a tree represents a belief that the tree will grow and, some day, provide wood products, wildlife habitat, erosion control, shelter from the wind and sun, beauty, and inspiration for ourselves and our children.  Trees are truly gifts that keep on giving as they filter pollution from the air and even help lower energy bills through the virtue of their shade.    Arbor Day is more than a holiday. It is a promise to the earth — celebrating a desire to enrich our homes and communities with the natural abundance that trees bring to our lives.
