Fall Color Guide

Holden Forests & Garden’s tree experts estimate that the current level of fall color is now at about 30 percent. To immerse yourself in the beauty of the forests in the fall, explore the Woodland, Old Valley, Pierson Creek and Bole Woods trails. For a breathtaking view of the Arboretum as the colors change, visit the Kalberer Family Emergent Tower.

The bright colors we associate with autumn are actually present in the leaves during the spring and summer months but are masked by chlorophyll. The chlorophyll gives the leaves their bright green color and as chlorophyll breaks down in the fall, the hidden reds, yellows and oranges appear.

The Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Tower will be open until Nov. 1.

Check back for updates as the season progresses.
