2009 Summer Camps

 

Mix and Match Day Camps - ages 6-8

The following programs can be taken alone or together for a full day of fun. There is a 1/2 hour of supervised break for lunch between programs. Before care is available from 7:30 - 9am for $10/week. After care is available from 3:30 - 5:30pm for $20/week. There is a "late pick-up" fee of $5 per day.Please pack a lunch and beverage if attending both morning and afternoon sessions.

Did you know there is a treasure hiding at Holden and we need treasure hunters? Imagine our forest is the last one on earth. You and the other hunters will have to decide where the treasures are and which ones need to be saved. Does saving one organism depend on another? How do you decide on what is considered a treasure? Be prepared for adventure, surprises and challenges as we take on the quest bestowed on us. Class Code: FAM202

Green Team

How can our earth be healthier? Join the Green Team and learn how. We'll investigate ways that everyone can reduce, reuse and recycle. We'll even turn garbage into usable products and figure ways to conserve at home and here at Holden. Be the hero the earth needs. Come join the Green Team! Class Code: FAM203

Overnight Adventure Camp - Ages 11-13, Co-ed

 

Date: Wednesday Aug. 12 - Friday Aug. 14

Time: Drop off Wednesday, 10am. Pick up, Friday, 3pm

Location: Red Oak Camp

Instructor: Holden/Red Oak Staff

Cost: $125

 

 

The Holden Arboretum and Red Oak Camp are teaming up to offer fun-filled outdoor recreation and nature programming sure to actively engage your pre-teen in the great outdoors. This three-day experience provides ample opportunity for canoeing, swimming and rock wall climbing along with non-traditional challenges such as rope and harness tree climbing and flying through the air on a zip line. Kids will have plenty of time to experience the thrill of discovery while exploring diverse natural habitats during Holden staff guided journeys into streams, forests, fields and other remote areas of Holden. Of course, no camp experience would be complete without night hikes and S’mores around the campfire.

 

Red Oak is an ACA accredited camp. Fee includes all meals, cabin lodging and all programming. A what-to-bring list will be provided at the time of registration. Class code: FAM275
