Spring Teen Volunteer Opportunities

 

Raking and Spring Clean-up

Once the snow has melted it is time to clean-up what nature has left behind and get the gardens ready to look their best for spring and summer. Individuals, groups (ages 11 and up) are invited to come out and help with raking and collecting fallen debris. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy waterproof shoes and bring a pair of warm waterproof work gloves. Complimentary snacks and refreshments provided.

 

Weekdays & Saturdays in March-May
 

Bluebird Monitor (with a parent or guardian)

Help with scientific research by being a bluebird monitor. For a couple of hours a week, volunteers will monitor the bluebird trail consisting of 12-20 bluebird boxes, accurately record observations, and clean nests as necessary. On-the-job training will be provided and volunteers need to be able to engage in moderate outdoor activity.


Two hours per week for at least one season (weekdays or weekends)
 

Pancake Supper & Breakfast

Help serve beverages and food or bus tables at Holden’s sweetest event. Free pancake breakfast for all volunteers.

Arbor Day Celebration

Join us for a family-friendly event honoring all that trees do for us. Help with kid’s crafts and activities, parking, passing out tree-seedlings, and more! Event is held outdoors rain or shine. Volunteers receive a $3 food voucher for the concessions.

Plant Sale Weekend

Help bring purchased plants from vendor booths to the pick-up tent or assist with parking. Event is held outdoors rain or shine. Volunteers receive a $3 food voucher for the concessions.

Volunteer Land Steward

Volunteer Land Stewards will help to promote biodiversity by helping to monitor and control non-native invasive plant species in the Holden natural area. Volunteers interested in helping must be able to engage in moderate outdoor activity. Frequency of sessions depend on chosen area.
