Last Day – Sept. 25, 2011

It has been an amazing summer at Holden. Our gardens have been the home of 20 larger-than-life gnomes since June 19. Over the summer, we've enjoyed seeing people's reaction to these fantastic works of art – children racing along the garden paths as they hunted for gnomes in the garden, people posing for photos with their favorite gnome, people wearing gnome hats as they strolled through the gardens.

We want to thank the 20 artists who created these gnomes for our exhibit and our sponsors for making this special exhibit possible.

Gnome and Garden is a public art project designed to promote awareness of The Holden Arboretum while providing local artists with an opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities.

As part of this public art project, each artist has used a wide range of materials to reimagine gnomes as explorers, pop culture icons, artistic legends and guardians of the forest.

Each week we will feature different family activities to help guests explore the grounds and learn more about the natural world that these gnomes inhabit. Learn more.
