Need vitality, joy and stress relief? Try the mindful practice of Hatha Yoga. Become more centered and focused through breath work; cultivate flexibility, strength and deep relaxation. Held at an indoor location with a garden view. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a mat, pillow and your sense of inquisitiveness. Beginners to experts welcome.

Chair yoga adapts traditional yoga poses so that they can be done with a chair for support, making yoga accessible for everyone. Learn breathing and relaxation techniques, increase flexibility and strength, and improve your balance and circulation. Your body and mind are really going to appreciate this class. All are welcome. A great program for seniors. Wear loose comfortable clothing.

Wine and Cheese Night Hike

Must be 21 years old or older to attend.

Enjoy a leisurely hike along Holden's diverse woodland trails in search of night sounds, animal sightings and learn a bit about the night time forest ecosystem. After the hike, relax and enjoy a selection of wines, non-alcoholic beverages, fresh fruit and gourmet cheeses. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather, this hike goes no matter the weather. These hikes fill quickly – prompt registration is suggested.

Learn to Snowshoe

Free for members, with gate admission for nonmembers

Gather your family and friends and learn to snowshoe.  After a brief demonstration, you will strap on snowshoes and go for a gentle hike to explore the great outdoors.  Program is only held when there is adequate cover. 

Participants should be over the age of 10.  Families with younger children should register for the snowshoeing class offered in the Children’s Discoveries section.

Older adults interested in plants, nature, good health and making new friends are encouraged to join this wellness group. Gatherings, scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month, offer discussion and a related activity. Light refreshments served.

Ice Photography Workshop with Ian Adams

Join environmental photographer Adams for a slide program with tips for taking great winter photographs with your iPhone, point-&-shoot or SLRcamera, followed by an exciting hike through the woods into the icy depths of Stebbins Gulch to photograph the spectacular icicles and frozen waterfalls that line the gorge in midwinter.  Bring a bag lunch and be prepared for wet, rugged hiking conditions.  Meet again on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 2-4pm for a review and critique of your Stebbins Gulch photos and learn some PhotoShop/Lightroom tips for fine-tuning and sharing your winter photographs.  This program is designed for people with a basic understanding of digital photography.
