With its focus on coordinating breath and flowing gestures, Tai Chi is often described as meditation in motion. The many benefits of Tai Chi include positive effects on the immune system, lower blood pressure, increased flexibility, improved range of motion and balance, and reduced joint and back pain. Tai Chi is slow synchronized motion, standing or seated. The gentle movements increase muscle strength and tone, and develop awareness of “chi” for empowering inner stillness and relieving stress and anxiety. The style of Tai Chi we will be practicing is easy to learn and suitable for all ages, body types and levels of fitness. It is based on medical research and is especially well suited to those who suffer from arthritis.
