Buckeye Bud’s Adventure Woods and the Habitat Hut

Spend part of your visit to Holden at Buckeye Bud’s Adventure Woods. Take a spin on the mini zip line, weave on the oversized loom or use your imagination to act out a play in our woodland theater.

Children can also build a log shelter; hop, jump and limbo their way through the obstacle course; or take a quiet break at the bird feeding station. Be sure to explore Buckeye Bud’s Woodland Cabin or create your own artwork at Buckeye Bud’s Observation Tower.

The tower is a great place to see turtles and frogs in Buttonbush Bog.

Buckeye Bud’s Adventure Woods will be open through October and is designed for families with children ages 3 to 10.

Buckeye Buds Adventure Woods is not staffed, adults are responsible to actively supervise children in their care.

Habitat Hut

New this year at the Arboretum, the Habitat Hut is geared toward families with children ages 2-8. This playhouse, located near the prairie garden is set among four, easy to access habitats: prairie, stream, bog and woods. Inside the hut are simple activities to introduce families to the habitats and why we should care for them. From there, families can then venture to each habitat to explore them first hand.

To help introduce families to the new space we will be holding Open Huts at the Habitat Hut. These Open Huts will occur on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 6th, from 10am – 4pm and will be led by education volunteers and staff. Families will get a guided experience of all the features in and around the Hut and get to participate in a hands-on activity.
