Lakeland College/Holden Arboretum Camps

Nature Quest Camp

Date: Monday – Friday, July 10 -14
Time: 9am – 3pm
Location: The Holden Arboretum
Instructor: Education staff/volunteers
Cost: $129 per child, members; $159 per child, nonmembers
Ages: Children entering first and second grades


Come connect with nature through hands on experiences at the Aboretum. Take a hike deep in to mysterious forests, observe fine details in lush gardens, and discover diversity in ponds that are teeming with life. Campers should wear clothing suitable for getting wet and dirty. Please bring a lunch, snack, and plenty of water daily. Pick up and drop off is located at the Corning Visitor Center at the Arboretum. Space is limited.

Wild Child Camp

Date: Monday – Friday, July 17 – 21
Time: 9am – 3pm

Get in touch with your wild side! This week-long outdoor adventure camp focuses on skills for living in the wilderness. Campers will become one with nature as they discover how exciting and gratifying it can be to live off of the land. Campers should wear clothing suitable for getting wet and dirty. Please bring a lunch, snack and plenty of water daily. Pick up and drop off is located at Working Woods at the Arboretum. Space is limited.

Wild Child Camp Two

Want to take your survival skills to the next level? Join us for this week-long extension of Wild Child Camp where campers will learn new and more advanced wilderness survival techniques. We recommend high levels of comfort, experience, and love of the outdoors. Campers should wear clothing suitable for getting wet and dirty. Please bring a lunch, snack, and plenty of water daily. Pick up and drop off is located at Working Woods at The Holden Arboretum. Space is limited.

Working With Nature

Date: Monday – Friday, July 24 – 28
Time: 9am – 3pm
Location: Warren H. Corning Visitor Center

Cost: $159 per child, members; $189 per child, nonmembers
Ages: Ages 12 – 15


Did you know that you can make a career out of climbing trees, protecting wild life or creating beautiful gardens? Visit the Arboretum to discover what it takes to forge a career in the world of natural science. Get a hands-on look at what the professionals do in the fields of conservation, research, horticulture and forestry. Practice field techniques, learn how to identify native plants and animals, and use equipment in the research lab. Pack a lunch and wear clothes suitable for hiking outdoors. Space is limited.

Overnight Adventure

Sponsored by Red Oak Camp and the Holden Arboretum

Date: Monday – Wednesday, Aug. 7 – 9
Time: 8am, Monday; 4pm, Wednesday
Location: The Holden Arboretum and Red Oak Camp
Instructor: Red Oak Camp staff/Holden Education staff
Cost: $210 members – $225 nonmembers
Fee: includes all meals, cabin lodging and all programming.
Ages: 10-13 years old (coed)


The Holden Arboretum and Red Oak Camp are teaming up to offer fun-filled outdoor recreation and nature programming sure to actively engage your preteen in the great outdoors. This three-day experience provides ample opportunity for canoeing, swimming and rock climbing along with challenges such as a ropes course and flying through the air on a zipline. You will explore the wonders of nature on the Arboretum’s Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower along with a hike through Stebbins Gulch and an exploration of Pierson’s Creek. No camp experience would be complete without night hikes and s’mores around the campfire.
