Three Women in the Woods: Words and Images

Opening Reception:

An exhibit of poetry and nature photography that illustrates the need to preserve and conserve the beauty of our woodlands. Poetry by Jill Sell and photos by Jane Rogers. Join us for the opening reception on July 23 at the Warren H. Corning Visitor Center. Exhibit is free to members and included with gate admission for non members.

Garden Concerts

When: 

Tuesday, July 27, Aug. 3, 10 and 17

Time: Gate opens at 6pm, concerts start at 6:30pm, end at 7:30pm.
Where: Holden's Display Garden

One Tuesday, July 27, the Garden Concert series will feature the Mobile Millennium Carillon and the talents of carillonneur George Leggiero Jr. of the Church of the Covenant, Cleveland, Ohio. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a relaxing evening with good friends and good music.

14th Annual Members Amateur Photography Exhibit

The 14th Annual Members Amateur Photography Exhibit is an opportunity for you to showcase your beautiful photos taken at the Holden Arboretum. Adult members (18 and over) and junior members (17 and under) are encouraged to submit their photographs. Photographs must be 8x10 in a 11x14 black or white mat. Woofstock

When: 

Sunday, Sept. 19

Where: Warren H. Corning Visitor Center

 

Join us for the the Geauga Humane Society's 2010 Woofstock Furry Walk-A-Thon and Family Festival. Individuals and families are encouraged to run or walk with their dogs for fun and for the cause. The Walk-A-Thon will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by canine games, an agility course, a kids’ activity area, festive live music and a chance for participants to visit many related vendor booths. Bring your favorite canine and join the fun at this popular event. Proceeds from the event support the Geauga Humane Society's Rescue Village.

 

Nature's Brew Beer Tasting

When: 

Saturday, Oct. 9; 4 - 6pm

Where: Spruce Knoll

Cost:

$35 members, $45 non members, $15 designated drivers

Ages: Must be 21 or older to attend.

 

Why should children have all the fun at Halloween. Holden's Goblins in the Garden Trick-or-Treat-Trail leads to the ales!  The autumn colors and smells, lively music, food and a chinese auction with beer-related merchandise from our distributor will round out this fun fall evening. Come in costume for an extra treat. Rain or shine event - dress appropriately!     On-line reservations available late August.                             

Goblins in the Garden

Cost:

Members: $5 per carload

Nonmembers: $10 per carload

Ages: Targeted at ages 2-12

 

Holden's annual family-friendly, non-scary Halloween celebration with an afternoon of activities that allows our little costumed guests to trick-or-treat during the daylight hours in our decorated garden setting. Enjoy other fall family-oriented activities; food concessions available. Most activities ADA accessible. Dogs on leash, and in costume, are welcome! Rain or shine event - dress appropriately.

 

Gifts from the Heart of Nature

Deepwood Foundation's 14th Annual Strides of March - 5K Run and Walk

When:

Warren H. Corning Visitor Center

 

The 3.1 mile race course winds along beautiful Sperry Road through The Holden Arboretum. The out and back course is fully paved and is slightly hilly. Sperry Road will be closed for the duration of the race to ensure the utmost safety of the participants.

 

All proceeds from the Strides of March 5K Race will benefit children and adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

Arbor Day Celebration

When: 

Friday, April 29, April 30 and May 1; 10am-4pm each day

Where: Warren H. Corning Visitor Center

Free admission all weekend long

 

Celebrate the important role trees play in our lives during The Holden Arboretum's Arbor Day Celebration. Check back for details, which will be posted closer to the event.

Plant Sale

When: 

Friday, May 13 member preview 12-5pm

Saturday, May 14 and Sunday May 15 open to public 10am-4pm

Where: Warren H. Corning Visitor Center

 

Dozens of vendors (list to come) featuring woody plants, perennials, annuals, herbs, container plants and wood crafts, plus Holden-grown wildflower varieties and homemade jellies and jams. Food concessions available. Most vendors can process credit card sales. Remember that a portion of each sale supports The Holden Arboretum. Rain or shine event - dress appropriately.

Wine Tasting

Saturday, May 28; 5:00-7:30pm

One of Holden's beautiful gardens will become the backdrop for this limited-reservation event that is always a sell-out!

Woodland 5K Run & Walk

Where: Trails of the Arboretum, beginning & ending at Visitor Center

 

Experience 3.1 miles of Holden's trails through gardens, forests, meadows and natural areas. Check back in Spring 2011 for on-line reservation opportunities and more details.
