Stebbins Gulch — A Hike Through Geologic History

Description Follow the streambed as it cuts through bedrock dating back millions of years and explore the plant communities resulting from this special geological feature. This is a rigorous hike requiring a good degree of physical fitness and balance. Proper footwear is imperative and should be appropriate for climbing, walking through mud, snow, ice and high water conditions. We strongly suggest high waterproof boots.
 Notes No children under 12.

Wine and Cheese Night Hike

Description Find tranquility on a moonlit hike over snow-covered trails in search of Holden’s resident winter wildlife. Then cozy up to an inviting fire with a variety of wines and gourmet cheeses. This is an all-weather event so dress for the climate and wear appropriate hiking shoes. These hikes fill quickly – prompt registration is suggested.

Description Learn to read the landscape and discover a variety of treasures as you explore the hidden nooks and crannies of Holden. Your naturalist guide will help you. More than an identification walk these slow-paced explorations help develop a new way of looking at and understanding the natural world. After the walk, return to the Corning Visitor Center for a short social break followed by a discussion of suggested readings of literature and poetry.
NOTES: Slow walks on uneven terrain up to two miles in length.

Loon Walk, Moon Walk and Dinner — a three-part adventure

Description Experience the quiet of East Branch Reservoir nestled in the Geauga hills. The waterfowl migration will be in full swing and we will search for loons, swans and other northern fliers as they rest and feed in this sanctuary near Middlefield. Our daylight walk will be followed by a dutch-treat dinner at a nearby Amish-style restaurant After dinner, return to the East Branch to enjoy the full moon and listen for loons. Driving distance from site to restaurant is approximately two miles. Directions to site sent on registration
