A Home for a Gnome

Description

Gnomes need a home just like everyone else. There are creek gnomes, forest gnomes, meadow gnomes and pond gnomes. Join us as we hike through these various habitats to learn more about them. We will then take our own unfinished miniature gnome and decorate it so that it will feel at home in the habitat of our choosing. The gnome is then yours to keep to place in a habitat near your own home.

Wild Edibles of Fall

Description

Fall is the perfect season to collect colorful leaves.  Join us as we venture outside to collect leaves and learn which trees they came from.  We will then make a leaf press to preserve your leaves.

Autumn Leaves and S'mores: A Fall Picnic

Description

There is no better way to spend a fall evening than listening to the crunch of leaves underfoot as you walk through the woods, collecting colorful examples and perhaps catching a glimpse of the few remaining frogs in the pond. Join us for a fall picnic. We will provide the s'mores, the leaf trail and the craft activities. The activities will be ongoing so you can collect, hike, eat and make things in whatever order you want. All you need to bring is your curiosity and picnic dinner.

Setting In: Here Comes Winter

Description

Winter is just around the bend and plants and animals have amazing ways of "setting in" or getting ready for the cold to come. Less water, snow and short days are just a few of the situations they have to deal with and they can't go buy a coat or go in the house and shut the door. Or can they? Come find out.

Fall Family Hike to Little Mountain

Description Do you like gigantic boulders with crevices, cracks and pools of water? Little Mountain is the perfect place to explore if you don’t mind getting wet and dirty. Join us as we locate sites of the old hotels, find names carved into rocks more than 100 years ago and search for the old spring house. Bring a sense of adventure and boots. Each family member must be able to walk up steep hills and and hike for two miles. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate foot gear for some wet walking. Children age 8 and above.
