Fireside Series: Through the Photographer's Lens

Take an armchair vacation this February when you attend one or all of these programs. This year we are featuring three local photographers who will share their passion for gardens, wildlife, and historic natural and pastoral landmarks of Ohio as well as tour through Monet's Garden in Giverny. Hopefully these presentations will inspire you to travel and take your own images of our diverse natural and horticultural world. Light refreshments served after each program where you will have a chance to speak with the presenter. Programs are free but registration is required.

Capturing Monet's Garden in Giverny

Date Sunday, Feb. 19
Time 2 - 4pm
Location Thayer Center
Instructor Marilyn Dolence
Description

"Never before had a painter so shaped his subjects in nature before painting them" and the result was so spectacular that 500,000 people now visit Monet's garden every year. Travel with Marilyn Dolence as she takes you on a tour of one of the world's most recognizable gardens. In addition, she will share some interesting photographic techniques that she learned during her photo tour of Monet's garden that simulate Monet's impressionistic style. This interesting program is for those who want to see his garden but also for those who would like to learn to "paint" with their point and shoot or SLR camera. Marilyn enjoys nature and scenic photography. She particularly likes shooting in
B&W, infrared and macro. Recently she has been experimenting with x-ray photography. She had two of
her photos accepted for the juried May Show at Lakeland Community College in 2010. She was the
featured artist for the December concerts of City Music Cleveland. She has a show hanging at the Crazy Lake
Art House in Greenfield, Ind.
