Pleasant walk back
A key characteristic of Stebbins Gulch is change. Its appearance changes from hour to hour, day to day, week to week, after every rain storm, and from season to season. This is the trail back to the parking area on a beautiful fall afternoon. The trail is flat, wide and scenic, and passes through half a mile of second-growth forest on the edge of mowed fields. After the rigors of the Gulch, it is a pleasant stroll. Not much interpretation is done on this stretch. It’s a time to exchange small talk with your fellow hikers and to get to know them better. It’s an enjoyable and relaxing way to end the tour.
