Dear Holden Forests & Gardens Supporters:
It is with heavy hearts that Holden Forests & Gardens closed the Holden Arboretum grounds as of today Thursday, March 19. The ability of HF&G to provide access to nature, especially during stressful times like this unprecedented moment, is a gift we wanted, and still would prefer, to provide.
After allowing access to our trails and grounds at the Arboretum for the past week, it is no longer possible. Governor Mike DeWine’s series of public health mandates issued over the past several days have caused us to cease normal operations across all facets of our organization. We are allowing only essential staff; a small team of horticulturists, security and police onsite to continue to care for the plants, animals, gardens and trails we all love at both campuses.
This is an incredibly challenging and complex time of unknowns. Each day, public health directives get more and more stringent. We are doing the best we can under these conditions that are mandated for the health and safety of everyone, including our staff. Please know that we join you in wanting to re-open our grounds as soon as possible.
Thank you for your support and understanding as this situation continues to evolve. Stay healthy and well.
