Even without leaves, many trees are still recognizable during the winter months. Learn the distinguishing characteristics for identifying more than 30 native species in the dormant season. Study branching patterns, growth habits, bark color and bud arrangements. We will be walking outdoors for the entirety of this course, so dress accordingly.

Instructor Bio

Toby Davidson, Horticulture Supervisor for the Display Gardens Davidson earned his A.D. in Forestry from Hocking College. He spent the first 8 of his 12 years at Holden caring for the trees in the outer collections. He enjoys pruning trees and designing garden spaces.
